Dreams came true in 2015 for Winnipeg author Gabriele Goldstone – twice! Rebelight is proud to announce that the first two books in her historical Katya's Stone Series were launched this year.
Red Stone, a novel exploring the harrowing journey of a young Russian/German girl during the time of Stalin’s regime, was originally published as Kulak’s Daughter by Blooming Tree Press in 2010. When Blooming Tree closed its doors, Goldstone struggled to find a home for the novel’s sequel.
After reading the manuscript for the sequel, Rebelight Publishing offered Goldstone a contract to republish the first book in the series, along with the sequel. A third installment is on the horizon. Re-edited, re-designed, and re-named Red Stone, the gripping first installment exploring the journey of Katya Halter arrived on bookshelves in June, 2015. Broken Stone, Book Two in the series, launched on November 26, 2016 at McNally Robinson, Winnipeg.
Readers crowded the bookstore atrium to hear more about the long awaited sequel. Broken Stone remained on McNally Robinson’s bestseller list for two weeks.
In the blog tour that followed, Goldstone’s heartbreaking but victorious story wowed readers and unlocked an often overlooked piece of history.
